To ensure that elders and their families enjoy the high quality home care they deserve, all home care agencies operating in Illinois must be licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health.  All home care providers are required to comply with a minimum set of standards.  Best Practices Home Care Alliance prides itself on exceeding the standards that have been set forth by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).


Best Practices Home Care Alliance’s Standards

  • 8 Hours of  Comprehensive Training upon hire and prior to placement in a home.  This training includes:
    • Classroom instruction and competency testing through written exams and return demonstration on transferring, personal care, professionalism, & confidentiality.
  • Offer 12 Hours of Continuing Education Annually

IDPH Minimum Standards

  • 4 hours of training prior to employment plus 4 additional hours within the first 90 Days.
  • 8 hours of Continuing Education Annually


Best Practices Home Care Alliance’s Standards

  • Are visited every 30-60 days by a Health Care Professional.
  • Supervision is performed by either a Registered Nurse or a Social Worker.

IDPH Minimum Standards

๏Every Client must be visited in the home every 90 Days.

๏Supervision can be performed by any Agency Personnel (the law does not define qualifications of a supervisor)

  • We create an individualized plan of care for our clients
  • We employ (issue W-2’s) 100% of our workforce ~ our caregivers, Professional Supervisors, and administrative staff are all employees.
  • We maintain 24/7 on-call coverage.  
  • We maintain Workers’ Compensation coverage.
  • We carry liability insurance.
  • We complete a fingerprint criminal background, reference checks, & drug testing on all of our employees.
